How are these compatibility scores computed?

With the same client-side scoring engine as our free kundli-matching tool: classical ashtakoota tables, per-pada moon signs, and the standard nadi and bhakoot cancellation rules applied explicitly.

Why do pages show a score range instead of one number?

Because the true 36-guna score depends on each moon's pada (quarter), which decides the moon sign for four of the eight kootas. One flat number without pada is a guess — we show the honest spread.
